After Wu drives his taxi into a river, the passenger, Sudan, moves in with Wu’s widow Fanny and their son Kawa. Sudan has an unforeseen positive influence on both of them, seeing Kawa through a rite of passage and inspiring enough confidence in Fanny to allow her to taste new romance. Years later, however, Kawa and Sudan reunite, and the hideous truth of his father’s death finally emerges.
