Presented by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, the 3rd edition of the Summer IFF will begin from August 8th to September 15th, 2008. A press conference was held 6 days before the commencement, and the Society proudly announced that tickets sales had reached over 50% in two weeks since booking has started; 8 screenings were sold out (as of August 1st, 2008), including Om Shanti Om, 700 Days of Battle: Us VS. The Police, and Childhoods, thus additional screenings were arranged for the audience that had missed it at the first time (please refer to website for details)!

The Summer IFF also had the honour to invite multi-talented artist, Ms. Denise Ho, to be the Summer IFF Ambassador for the second time. At the press conference, Artistic Director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, Mr. Li Cheuk To, took the opportunity to present a special gift to Ms. Ho for her continuous support to the Society; the gift was an unique poster designed by local illustration artist Siu Hark, featuring the adorable Summer IFF mascot, the film buff pig, in bollywood costume. Ms. Ho also shared her favourite Summer IFF films with the audience, and gave away complimentary tickets to the lucky winners of a pop quiz at the event. Introducing two sections, ‘Summer Pops’ and ‘Summer Classics’, the Summer IFF is one of the hottest cinematic events in summer 2008.
